Judge Mitchell is a Judge in the Second Judicial District. Previously she served as an Assistant Ramsey County Attorney and Director of the Youth Justice and Wellness Division where she is responsible for supervising attorneys with caseloads in Juvenile Court. Previously, she was an Assistant Hennepin County Public Defender in the adult criminal division and a law clerk to Judge Tanya M. Bransford, Hennepin County District Court. Judge Mitchell is a Woman’s Advocates board member and an active member of the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers. Previously, Ms. Mitchell was a Trustee for the Sheltering Arms Foundation, and a volunteer for a number of different organizations in the community. Ms. Mitchell earned her BA from Fisk University, Nashville, TN and her JD from the University of Minnesota Law School.
